Denver Host Committee Launches TV Series on City Hosting of the DNC

Program Highlights Behind-the-Scenes Process
The Denver 2008 Host Committee, in partnership with Denver 8 TV and the Denver Metro Convention Visitors Bureau, will launch a monthly television series beginning May 8th that will highlight the community efforts, opportunities and challenges of hosting the Democratic National Convention, held in Denver on August 25-29.

The program, "Denver 8.08," will bring viewers an insider's look at the community effort required to host an event of this scale. Each segment of the 4-part series will give a behind-the-scenes look at the special features of this convention, as well as how the event will impact our state. A new episode will air on Channel 8 each month starting in May; the series will run through August 2008.

Residents throughout the region can take great pride not only in playing host to up to 50,000 guests from around the nation and the world, but also in the perseverance it takes to plan the details of the event. The effort to bring this historic event to our city has been one that has engaged the entire Metro region, Colorado and the multi-state area of the Western United States.

  • How was this done?
  • What will make this convention stand out from all that have gone before?
  • What impact will this event have on our daily lives?  And what opportunities will be presented when media attention brings Denver and Colorado into the limelight?

Answering those questions is what "Denver 8.08" is all about. Because the convention will deliver a sizeable impact beyond Denver, "Denver 8.08" also will be broadcast in almost 20 other communities in the metro area and statewide.

The program will be aired in participating cities such as Arvada, Aurora, Boulder, Brighton, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas County, Durango, Fredrick, Golden, Greenwood Village, Lakewood, Telluride, Thornton, Westminster, Wheatridge, and the Summit County communities of Breckenridge, Silverthorn, Dillon, and Frisco.
