West Chamber Leads Groups

The West Chamber exists for the success of promoting businesses in Jefferson Country. Leads groups were designed to help members grow their customer base through a supportive referral network. These relationships are design to benefit both partners while attempting to increase their marketing reach.

Below please find our seven Leads Groups and our current moderators.  Please contact the respective moderators in advance if you would like to visit a group.

Leads Groups Policies & Procedures

ELIGIBILITY: Only members in good standing may participate (Chamber membership and leads dues must be current prior to attending a meeting)

A Chamber member may visit each group up to two times as a guest before joining the group.

Non-Chamber members may visit one group up to two times as a guest before becoming a member of the Chamber.

Only one member per profession or specialty can be in a group.

Only one business may be promoted per Chamber and Leads Network membership. If the member is involved in more than one business, an additional Chamber membership and additional networking dues must be paid.

A member may only represent one area of business expertise because each member of the group brings a finite number of contacts, a larger group will have a richer database of potential business.

A Chamber member business is eligible to be represented in one (1) networking group, unless there are not enough members in a given category to fill a chair in each group. In this case, you may choose one group as your primary group and then join another leads groups in a secondary position with the understanding that in the event another Chamber members in your industry wishes to join the group you must relinquish your secondary groups.

Independent contractors, agents or franchises are required to have separate Chamber and Leads Network memberships. Eligibility is based on industry representation and if there is a waiting list for such a business.

PROTOCOL FOR HANDLING POTENTIAL CONFLICT OF INTEREST:

The current moderator is responsible for handling any conflict of interest within group. It is not the responsibility of the group members to tell guests that their industry is taken. The current moderator will politely explain to a guest is their industry is taken and direct them to the Chamber rep for help finding an open group. Sometimes guests come just to observe the leads group without intention of joining the group. It is expected that all group members are polite, friendly and courteous to all guests coming to their leads group regardless of what industry they represent.

Membership Application Process

Before joining a leads group you must fill out a membership application and allow the group to decide if you are a good fit for membership. Each group has a different voting system please see the moderator to acquire a membership application and find out what the next step is for membership.

Respect & Accountability:
We expect people to behave respectfully and appropriately at all meetings. The group is responsible for its member’s behavior and must address a member for acting in such a manner because they are giving a bad impression of the Leads group. Example: Showmanship (stealing the spotlight from a presenter or speaker), being rude, bossy or disrespectful to guests or other group members, crossing industry boundaries, etc.

The protocol for removing a group member is:
Contact the chamber representative: Chamber will give 1 official warning to member. If behavior is not resolved they will be asked to leave the group.

ATTENDANCE:
Attendance is critical to the success of your business and the group! A member must make a minimum of nine out of twelve/thirteen possible meetings in a quarter. It is important that members of a Leads network make the commitment to be present at the weekly meetings for relationships to be built and leads to be exchanged on a timely manner. When a participant in the group chronically misses meetings, the Chamber will be notified of the situation and contact the member by phone or in writing. The situation will be assed by the Chamber and appropriate action will be taken.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE:
Often times, members incur deadlines, emergencies or heavy work volumes which don’t allow the member to attend the Leads Network during a particular time of year. The member must apply for a leave of absence in writing for four weeks. The formal request is to be given to the current moderator and the Chamber Representative.  If the member needs more than four weeks, the member would have to reapply and it would be at the discretion of the Leads Group and the Chamber Representative to approve the request.

Uniformed Point Structure for all Chamber Leads Groups

ONE POINT:
- An internal lead
- Bringing a guest
- Attendance at Chamber events
- Invitation to hold a one on one meeting

TWO POINTS:
- Business transacted from the lead
- When a lead is passed to the current spotlight speaker it equals 2 points.
- A one-on-one meeting is conducted with a member of the group.
- An outside lead that results in business transacted. When an inside lead is passed to the current spotlight speaker it equals 2 points. When an outside lead is passed to spotlight speaker it equals 4 points.
