Links for Learning

Links for Learning is a unique business education-partnership sponsored by the West Chamber Serving Jefferson County Foundation. A program designed specifically for Jefferson County teachers by Jefferson County Businesses, Links for Learning offers teachers an accurate snapshot of the industries that drive the region’s economy and a glimpse of the skills students need for success. Since its inception in 1998, Links for Learning has reached over 30,000 students in 20 Jefferson County public schools through participating teachers. It continues to connect businesses to the district as donors, partners and supporters and has generated “real-world relevant” lesson plans to be shared among all Jefferson County schools.

Teachers love Links! "The experience is like spring cleaning in a dusty classroom. Getting out in the community, learning about current trends, employer expectations and the practical application of classroom academics gives the teacher a fresh perspective…teachers are able to bring the ‘real world’ back in to the classroom to better prepare students (for) when they actually get there."  -Ellen Bjorhus, WarrenTECH

Business loves Links! "Links for Learning educates teachers about the broad range of skill sets and values necessary for success in our industry. It also provides a link to raise awareness about youth volunteerism in our community.” -Carol Salzmann, Community Development, Exempla Lutheran Medical Center
